About Me
Welcome! Museums are some of my favorite places in the world, and I believe they are valuable spaces to preserve our history and connect to one another. As a museum professional, I work with museum collections in order to care for them and preserve them for future generations.
When working in collections care, I strive to balance preservation with connecting people to and allowing them access to their cultural heritage items. I work to make museums a place where all feel welcome and represented.
Mission
My mission is to be a conscientious museum professional who safeguards collections by implementing sustainable best practices in collections care while maintaining the essential balance between conservation and accessibility. I strive to advocate for underrepresented communities in the context of both history and museums.
Vision
To be a valued resource in my museum community and a community-engaged collections worker engaged in decolonization practices, who embraces ethical collections care and management and collaborative interpretation.
Community Collaboration
I value involving communities in the representation of their own culture to ensure that they are represented in the way they would like and that objects are or are not displayed as they see fit.
Decolonization/Inclusivity
As the museum world moves forward, decolonization is and will be an important part. I am dedicated to the decolonization of museum collections, exhibits, spaces, and practices in order to be more inclusive and representative of their communities values.
Preservation/Conservation
I am dedicated to balancing preservation and conservation along with accessibility to ensure that communities can still access their cultural heritage while considering object preservation.
Empathy
I strive to be empathetic to causes and communities I may not be a part of, and will make sure they are represented respectfully in the museum space.
